Installing NT4 Server on Netserver LD Pro
I've looked through the forums for a proper solution but i have been unable to draw a clear conclusion on what to do. I currently have Redhat 9. I would like to put NT4 Server on to replace it. I know I have to format, blah blah, but when I boot up from the NT4 server cd, it stalls at "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration". I have one 9GB HotSwap SCSI drive loaded in the front, and that is it. Wondering if anyone could help? Thanks!

Re: Installing NT4 Server on Netserver LD Pro
For loading NT, you sometimes need to load the proper SCSI drivers during the setup process. Such a diskette may be downloadable from the HP website, I don't know. You need to press F6 while the NT CD is booting, then load the special drivers off your floppy. It's not well documented; there are no prompts. If you wait for the NT CD to prompt you for drivers, at that point, it's too late.
There's an automated setup available if you have the G.01.65 Navigator CD. With that, the right drivers are loaded automatically for you. You could try calling tech support, they sometimes will send one if you're nice. Or, if you post your email address a kind soul might send you one. Understandably, no one wants to post their address here as being a source for such things. Finally, you can sometimes find the Navigator CD on eBay. There's professional sellers trying to get $20-30 for one, but sometimes a private party auctions one for just a buck or two.
One other tip: make sure all the Linux partitions are deleted off your disk, first. I don't know if it matters, but it couldn't hurt.

Re: Installing NT4 Server on Netserver LD Pro
The easiest way to bypass the autostart CD is to use the 3 starup disks that came with NT4.0!
Do not put the CD into the tray before you have run beyond the driver portion of the floppies and supplied the SCSI Drivers for your controller! You found that you couldn't load because the driver was not yet loaded and you therefore were not seeing your hard drive.

Don't fix what ain't broke!

Re: Installing NT4 Server on Netserver LD Pro
I tried to load the setup via the 3 disks, but after it loads the drivers, it says "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly configured to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue. Press F3 to exit."
The HD is a 9GB SCSI in Hotswap bay 2. I had Redhat 9 on it before, but completely wiped it clean and it is now unpartitioned/formatted. Is this the problem? If so, how would I format it without an operating system?
