LC3 MOBO partnumbers

Hello All!

I tried to search for this but didn't see anything.  And a most of the links I see are not working anymore.  I'm new so please correct my protocol as needed.  Thanks!

I have an LC3 and I am confused about all the part numbers for the mother board.  D6123-60000 is what I have and the I think the D6123-69000 is the replacement part number and the D6123-600007 is the planar board.  I want to upgrade to the PIII - 550 and I assume I need to change motherboard.  I noticed that some of the motherboards online have usb ports, hdmi connections, and allow more memory.  It's all a big mess in my mind and any direction from you would be most appreciated.  Cheers!

Doug

Hello,

Is it a Compaq ProLiant 8500 system?

Re: LC3 MOBO partnumbers

Hello TVVJ and I thank you for response!

I do not recall the HP Netserver LC3 ever being issued any Prolient name.  The only manulals I can find online are pretty basic and no technical info.  It boils down to I need to know which motherboard I need to accomodate the Pentium III 550 processors. I also need to know if the planar board needs to be replaced too.  If I could juist find a catalog of parts and their respective part numbers...

Thanks so much for your response.

Re: LC3 MOBO partnumbers

Hello

I can understand navigating part numbers and compatibility for older hardware like the LC3 can be confusing. To upgrade to a Pentium III - 550, be sure the motherboard supports this processor. Given the vintage of the LC3, it's likely that you'll need a motherboard that can handle Slot 1 or Socket 370 processors, as these were common interfaces for Pentium III CPUs.

When you mention motherboards with USB ports, HDMI connections, and more memory support, it sounds like you're looking at modern motherboards. These are the few points to consider: Compatibility, Processor/RAM, and Connections.

I hope this helps! Let me know

Re: LC3 MOBO partnumbers

Hello Mr_Techie:

Thank so much for the information. It is confusing! Most of the merchants
that offer these refurbished boards do not have the correct picture of the
MOBO that matches the part number - based on the part numbers that I know.

I'll try to put some examples together and I'll send pics of what I have.
Thanks again for your help!

I think these are all socekt 1 and you also hace to have the 5v VRM

Re: LC3 MOBO partnumbers

THen here is the Pentium III 550.

I think this is also Socket 1 but you can see the metal sticking out on the sides so it won't fit on the D6124-60000 MOBO.

This also needs the 5V VRM.

Re: LC3 MOBO partnumbers

And just for whatever reason I found these Pentium III 600 on ebay for a real deal.  Someone said on the internet the they installed theses on the LC3 motherboard that could accomodate the Pentium III 550 and they worked great.  However, these need a 2V VPM and Im not sure about that.  This one has yet a different metal sticking out on the sides...

It still fits socket 1

Re: LC3 MOBO partnumbers

The part numbers for MOBO's i'm seeing out there are:

D6123-60000 (the one I have)

D6123-69000

D6123-68004

I cannot seem to get the specs on these boards.  I'll keep looking.  Thanks to everyone for their help!
