Memory Slot Problem
Hi,
We have a ProLaint G2 server with the
We are having a Hardware problem in a Proliant ML370 G2 Server, it seems that the memory slot no.2 got a problem. We are having the following warning in the windows 2000 system event log:
-----------------------------------------------
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Server Agents
Event Category: Events
Event ID: 1071
Date: 11/19/2005
Time: 11:57:31 AM
User: N/A
Computer: XXXXXXXX
Description:
Compaq System Information Agent: Compaq Health: Correctable memory error detected. The errors have been corrected, but the memory module should be replaced.
-----------------------------------------------
And the Compaq Intergrated Management log Viewer gives the following warning:
--------------------
Corrected Memory Error threshold exceeded (System memory, memory module 2)
--------------------
We had replaced the old 1 GB memory stick with a new one, but we still have the same error in both event veiwer.
We would like to check the following:
1. Is the problem really retated to the memory slot 2?
2. If yes, it is possible to leave that slot empty, and use another slot as a fast solution?
3. How to soleve this problem?
Thank you.
Omar

Re: Memory Slot Problem
Don't replace memory
Use advisory as guide
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_ES030520_CW01
Update BIOS (system ROM)
System Management Driver
IM Agents
If needed
Clear NVRAM and Mark as Repaired from IML, restart.

Re: Memory Slot Problem
I have had the exact same error on 3 ML370 G2's in the past 2 weeks. the third one came over this past weekend.
The previous two servers with the issue had their motherboards replaced and it fixed the error.
We are running 7.2 PSP, and the memory error is being shown in the IML. Swapping the memory never fixes the issue.
regards
Nath
