ML530G2, confirming need for Smart Array Controller
Acquired ML530G2 for use with Telephony application, redundancy requirements. I learned through HP forums that I cannot use the ACU to configure an array without a "Smart Array Controller" (none detected.) As delivered, drives can be accessed--but the ACU needs something else to configure them as an array.
I was hoping that someone could confirm, I am about to purchase "Compaq Smart Array 532 Controller 225338-B21", cost is low. I'll redirect the cage A SCSI cable (6 x 34G drives in cage A) to this controller...I already pulled slack out fom under the backplane.
Question: I was surprised that this was not standard, can anyone confirm this need?
Question: Will the 532 card's form factor match the ML530G2's PCI-x backplane?
