Re: Netserver 5/133 LS2 (013h Error)

"13h device not found" is telling you that there were no bootable devices found on that SCSI channel. It appears you have two SCSI cards in your server and the drive is connected to the "second" card.

sorry for the double post...

Unless you have a drive connected to the fisrt card, you should be ok.

Re: Netserver 5/133 LS2 (013h Error)

Steve,

As John said, the message simply means that no bootable devices were found on the first SCSI controller. The LS has two onboard SCSI controllers. I would cable the controllers so that the internal hot-swap bays are connected to "SCSI A" on the system board and the CDROM drives are connected to "SCSI B". This will be beneficial in two ways: First, you won't get that annoying (but harmless) "no int13 devices..." message, and second, your hard drive will be on a separate SCSI bus from the CDROMS, which is better from a performance perspective. There should be a cabling diagram on the chassis, inside the cover. If this is still unclear, let us know.

By the way, at what SCSI address is the hard drive, and which o/s are you looking to install?

Dave

Re: Netserver 5/133 LS2 (013h Error)

I did as You all Said Yes I now am using Both SCSI BIOSES. But still on SCSI Bois #2 I still get the 13h error.

Also would it be appropiate for me to Make a request of some Wanted Hardware On this Forum?

I have another Issue also I am peicing together 2 machines and in the second machine it had a MYLEX DAC960P Disk array Controller I slipped it in and it works also I would like to keep it but in post it says I need to run the HPDA Configuration Utillity. Do any of you all Know where I can Get a copy of This so i can tell it that Nothing is connected Or do you all think I would even Need it. I have an HP Netserver 6 I would like to Eventually Connect to This for Further Storage One Day?

Re: Netserver 5/133 LS2 (013h Error)

HD Info is as follows:

SCSI ID:LUN NUMBER #:# - HP
4.26GB A 80-0430-Drive C:(80h)

CDROMS are As Follows:

SCSI ID:LUN NUMBER #:# 5:0 -
SCSI ID:LUN NUMBER #:# 6:0 -
TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-5301TA(BOTH)

OS Comment:

Right Now I have Windows 2000 Advanced Server (Active Directory) with no problems. But, I probally Wont keep it on there I just installed it to see the servers Capabilites I figured if it can run W2KAS Effeciently It will run almost any thing. I was thinking of making it A Novell Server. And ditching My existing 800Mhz AMD Win2kAS.

This Netserver Runs Excellent In windows 2000 AS No flaws yet I have all the latest updates From Microsoft installed on it also.

Re: Netserver 5/133 LS2 (013h Error)

Steve,

You mentioned that you have one 4GB hard drive on this server. The DAC will be of no value in a single drive configuration. If you have an even number of the same size drives, you can use it to implement hardware disk mirroring (RAID1, a very good idea), or if you have 3 or more of the same size drive, you can implement hardware disk striping with parity (RAID5), also a very good idea. Let us know which interface the DAC uses - is it EISA or PCI?

Re: Netserver 5/133 LS2 (013h Error)

Steve,

I just went to the Netserver support site to check on availability of the DAC config utility and it's a fairly small file that (like the BIOS update utility) is downloaded and executed to create a utility floppy. This floppy is then booted on your netserver and will execute the HPDA utility for configuration of the DAC (assuming that it's the HP-branded version of the DAC, and not a straight Mylex DAC. (HP versions of the DAC have a HP-customized version of the firmware.)

Here's a link you can use to download the HPDA utility:

<>

Also, here's a link to the support pages for all supported accessories for the LS (including the EISA and PCI DAC's). From there, you can link to the desired accessory and download manuals, firmware and utilities.

Re: Netserver 5/133 LS2 (013h Error)

DAC Responce:

It is an HP DAC in conjunction with MYLEX whn I ran the ECU (Off the CD) Something about Jet Configuration and i was able to configure the DAC. This is a PCI Board. I plan to keepit because it supports up to RAID 5 or trade it for parts that i need.

Re: Netserver 5/133 LS2 (013h Error)

I noticed that SCSI BIOS was not enabled. Go into the SCSI setup and enable SCSI BIOS to be able to boot to a drive hung on the SCSI device.

Good luck.
