Netserver E45 Hard Drive upgrade
I'm investigating my options for upgrading our existing equipment vs buying new. The netserver is showing her years but hasn't let us down yet. I purchased two Seagate ST-318406LW Ultra160 SCSI Wide drives to replace the software mirrored 9GB drives (originals) currently in the system. I atttempted to ghost the image to the new drive but get timeout errors writing to the new drive. The SCSI bios as well as the Ghost application recognizes the new drive correctly, I can run fdisk and create partitions. I didn't want to break the mirror and bring NT up with the new drive installed until I have a good image of the drive. Would updating the SCSI controller cause additional problems? If not, any suggestions? I noticed in other discussions flashing the drive bios? The E45 was only supported with drives up to 9GB, am I opening up a can-o-worms here? As this is a mature piece of equipment I'm sure someone out there has been in a similar position. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.

Re: Netserver E45 Hard Drive upgrade
\i do not remember well, but as the E45 server is quite old, I wonder if he is not using a SE controller, and some new drives need to be forced in SE mode, you will found a jumper on the disk.
also may be the controller you are using need to be updated with something more recent
