NetServer E60

I would like to get a little better performance out of this system with out having to replace it.

Any body tried running P3 700 or 800Mhz slot 1, 100Mhz FSB CPU in original 600Mhz mainboard.

I dont know if the dip switches can be set to a higher CPU than 600Mhz.

The dip switches cannot be set to allow a higher CPU. I have placed a higher CPU and it worked although the BIOS still reads it at the speed the dip switch is set at. Hope this helps.

This will depend on whether the system is CPU bound. If this is an I/O intensive application, you might want to concentrate on improving disk access (Hardware RAID) or increasing memory. This of course costs money but you can use Kingston memory and generic disk drives to help reduce costs.

Re: NetServer E60

The Dip switches on my E60 go to 700mhz, and I'm running the box with two PIII 700mhz processors. Get an error on boot because the microcode for the processors in not in the bios, but this has caused no problems whatseover in day to day operation. I just have to press F1 on boot to get it to continue.
