Problem installing Windows 2003 to a system using NetRaid-1 controller
I am trying to rebuild Netserver E60 to a Windows 2003 server and I am having a problem installing the operating system. Since there do not seem to be any valid Windows 2003 drivers for my controller card, I am using the ones for Windows 2000 even though I question whether I need to load drivers separately. I think that the OS CD has all the necessary drivers, however I haven't had much luck either way. Here is what is happening:
1) I boot the system with a Windows 2003 Server boot disk
2) Load Netraid drivers from a floppy disk
3) Setup recognizes available space (three disk in RAID 5) and allows me to create a partition(s) and format it.
4) It then proceeds to copy installation files.
5) After initial reboot I get an error: "Read disk failure, CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot"
And that's all she wrote.
This happens regardless of whether I load drivers separately or let the OS install them.
I have been at this for two days now with absolutely no luck. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.
Thanks

Re: Problem installing Windows 2003 to a system using NetRaid-1 controller
I have solved the problem. It turns out that the (D4992) NetRaid-1 Adapter cannot handle a boot partition larger than 8GB (mine was 18GB). Once I got it below the limit I was able to install the OS with no problems.

Re: Problem installing Windows 2003 to a system using NetRaid-1 controller
How did you discover this limitation? I have also been trying to install Win 2003 Server on a Netserver LH 3000 with the same results.
I just found the NetRaid-4m issue out after I already have my system where it will not boot except to the Recover Console for Win 2003.
I will try it with the NetRaid-4m new drivers in the morning but will try for a smaller partition for the boot drive.
Thanks for posting your reply it gives me another variable to try - after beating my head against the wall for two days.

Take a look at the e4services.homestead.com website. This is where my solution came from.
