"STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D", unexpected_kernel_mode_trap
SA-5304 in slot 2
Adaptec AUA-3020 USB2.0 card in slot 1
Got the trap error above twice in two days.
IML shows this entry:
PCI Bus Error (Slot unknown, Bus 2, Device 0, Function 0)
I can't seem to find what Bus 2 refers to.
Any thoughts?

Re: "STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D", unexpected_kernel_mode_trap
Try reseating all PCI cards and the PCI Riser Card into the system board.
If that doesn't solve the problem, temporarily run the system without the Adaptec AUA-3020 to see if that is it.

2. I removed the Adaptec and so far no problem - except, of course, now I have no USB2 ports.
Again, what is Bus 2?

Re: "STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D", unexpected_kernel_mode_trap
Please check in Device Manager in the properties of the SA-5304. It should list the PCI slot, bus, device, and function. By any chance is the SA-5304 on Bus 2 like shown in the IML's error?
If the server stays up for a while, you may want to consider re-inserting the Adaptec AUA-3020 and checking the Device Manager properties for its bus.
Steps like this should help narrow down the problem.

Re: "STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D", unexpected_kernel_mode_trap
5304:
PCI Bus 7, Device 3, Function 0
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller:
PCI Bus 0, Device 15, Function 2
PCI standard host CPU bridge:
PCI Bus 0, Device 0, Function 0
PCI Bus 0, Device 0, Function 1
PCI Bus 0, Device 0, Function 2
PCI Bus 0, Device 0, Function 3
PCI standard ISA bridge:
PCI Bus 0, Device 15, Function 0
Looking at everything else on the PCI bus, and all other entries, nothing refers to Bus 2.
I will reinsert the Adaptec when possible but it did not use Bus 2 when installed.

Re: "STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D", unexpected_kernel_mode_trap
It appears stable so far, two plus days since the last incident.
Taht incident resulted in the following mess: I was copying 3GB worth of files from a network drive when the error occurred. Upon restart, several open files were damaged but... all the files already copied to this system were *.chk types, as in recovered by the OS. Not several but all of them. That is very strange. I was using the standard Win copy command, not an external program.
We'll see how it goes when I try the Adaptec again today.

Re: "STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D", unexpected_kernel_mode_trap
Adaptec AUA-3020 PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
Bus 2, Device 8, Function 2
NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller
Bus 2, Device 8, Function 0
NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller
Bus 2, Device 8, Function 1
IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers
Bus 2, Device 9, Function 0
By the way, the card is a 4-port USB2 and 2-port Firewire. Only one cable to a USB DVD player is connected.
Getting there but nothing that completely matches.
