Re: REMOTE ACCESS CARD
Hi @ALino
The HP MicroServer N54L “Remote Access Card” (RAC) is an ASPEED AST2150-based BMC. If the previous owner changed the admin password, you have two practical ways to recover it:
Option A: Reset via local IPMI (no web password needed)
This is the safest method and doesn’t rely on guessing jumpers.
1. Boot the MicroServer with any OS that has IPMI tools (Linux is easiest).
2. Install ipmitool (e.g., on Debian/Ubuntu: apt-get install ipmitool).
3. Use the local KCS interface (no LAN credentials required):
4. After the cold reset, try logging into the RAC web UI using the new password you set for the admin user.
Option B: Hardware factory reset via jumper
If you prefer a hardware reset, the RAC has a small reset/factory-default header on the card. Without a manual, proceed carefully:
1. Power down the server and disconnect power.
2. Remove the RAC and inspect the PCB. Look for a 2-pin header or pads labeled something like “RESET,” “DEFAULT,” “CLR,” “PWD,” or “JP2/JP3” near the ASPEED chip.
3. Place a jumper cap across that header (or momentarily short the two pads with tweezers).
4. Reconnect power and turn the server on for about 10–20 seconds.
5. Power off, remove the jumper/short, reassemble, and power back on.
After a successful factory reset:
>> Network usually reverts to DHCP.
>> Web login typically reverts to default credentials (often admin/admin). If that doesn’t work, try setting a password via Option A and then log in.
