Remote Insight and Java Runtime 1.5

Our Remote Insight boards don't work if the client is using JRE 1.5. After login to the RIB, the applet starts to load but nothing happens and there is a blank screen. Normally the applet signing would come up. I think it is failing at the point where Java Web Start would load in the client. I notice that javaws.exe is in a different directory in 1.5 and 1.4.
Is there a fix or workaround?
