SA6400 controller being seen as 2 separate controllers
I have installed a 6400 controller, and it is being seen as a 6400 and a 6400EM, whn you attach disk shelves it only sees 2 shelves on each controller, rather than 1 x 4 channel card. how do i get it to see it as 1 card ?

Re: SA6400 controller being seen as 2 separate controllers
Wendy:
Very sorry, but you can't. That is how HP engineered the card. It acts like two controllers.
This is extracted from the SmartArray 6400 User Guide:
"The 2-channel expansion module is a controller in its own right. Thus, the Smart Array 6404 Controller is actually two 2-channel controllers sharing one PCI-X connector. This arrangement is referred to as a dual (or twin) controller configuration."
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/proliantstorage/arraycontrollers/sa6400-ug.pdf
As an alternative, you can install the SmartArray 5300 controller. It does not have Ultra320 capability but you can bind all 4 channels into one array.

"Now is the only thing that's real!"
