Re: Second Processor
If you get a Pentium II processor with the same speed and stepping, you will be OK. There are some tables on Intel's site that suggest processor steppings that work together, but I have heard mixed results. I would rather buy two matched processors than take the chance on a server.
Intel has a utility that may help identify the exact processor in your system. You can find it at: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/Detail_Desc.asp?ProductID=441&DwnldID=3084
According to Intel, it will detect: "Intel processor name, Processor Family Processor Type, Processor Model, Processor Stepping, Cache size,
Packaging Which processor was tested in a multiprocessor system, and total number of processors (Windows NT*, Windows* XP, and Windows* 2000 only), CPU Revision, Streaming SIMD Extensions 2, and NetBurst??? Microarchitecture".
No speed testing is reported for Pentium II processors, but you already know it is a 450 mhz.
