Setup HP NetServer LH II

Hi,

I have just got a HP NetServer LH II. Unfortunately it is just a system and doesn't have any documentation, or disks with it.

I don't have any experience with NetServers, so am starting from scratch!

It has a version of NT 4 installed, so I am able to use it, but what I really want to do is install Win 2003.

Can anyone give me information about, how to stop the boot, before it loads Windows, so that I can us the CD to install 2003.

Also can anyone give me information about how to reformat the scsi drives, and re-partition them, and then reconfigure the RAID controller, which is currently set as 2 drives (instead of the 6 physical disks) one 4Gb and one 18GB.

Thanks in advance.

I too have just picked up an LH II without docs or disksand no knowledge of them. You are lucky I have no operating system and can't get it to start loading Win 2000 Server.
You need to download 2 files to get you going, one is the BIOS update, which you must do first, the second is the Eisa Config Utility (ECU). You can find the both at the link below.
http://h20004.www2.hp.com/soar_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix50452en_US.html
Execute the files copying them to floppies, they will be bootable. After you have updated your BIOS run ECU and change the boot sequence to "SCSI A B before PCI" Save and exit. you should be able to boot to CDROM or floppy. If you are unable to boot to floppy iether you will have to remove the CPU board and set switch 3 to off, reinstall CPU card & start system for a few seconds, turn off reset switch to on reinstall CPU card, this will reset the BIOS.Pres CTRL M for array configuation when the Raid controller is loading. Installing Win2k give you the option of partitioning & formatting at installation.

Good Luck and if you find out anything else interesting let me know ( cdatar@nemesis.com.au)
