Simple memory question
We have a few dl360g4 servers which need a memory upgrade. Can I simply add a 2gb module next to the existing 1gb or do they have the be the same size ?

Re: Simple memory question
Hallo Johan,
they don't have to be the same size but
it's best to look at the quickspec's here to see what are the possible combinations based on the current memory module configuration you have:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11937_div/11937_div.html
Have a look at the memory section in the quickspec.
For some server models you need to take care what modules you mix in order to optimize interleaving (thus peformance) or to avoid incompatible combinations and also to avoid you limit yourself for future memory expansion in case that is ever needed.
Some combinations limit the max RAM size you'll be able to configure unless you remove previous installed memory modules again and spend (more) money for newer modules with higher density.
