Test event notifier

Test event notifier

Hi,
on a ML-370 G3 no events were sent out by the event notifier. I've changed some settings now & would like to test if it is working. Is there a way to trigger an event? I wouldn't want to pull out a harddisk which would be a possibility. The installed version of the notifier software is 6.40.

Thanks and regards

Re: Test event notifier

Hi,

if you have two alimentations or two lancards you can test it by unplug one.
Or only disconnect lan when users are not working, or unplug a fan

Pulling a redundant power supply would be another good choice for testing.

Re: Test event notifier

Thanks,
unfortunately there is neither a redundant powersupply nor a redundant NIC in this server. Pulling out the plug for the fan sounds like a good idea: Will the rear fan trigger an event or do I need to pull the power for the CPU fan?

Re: Test event notifier

Assuming that you have a full complement of redundant fans installed in an ML370 G5, you can pull any single fan which will cause an event.

Re: Test event notifier

A test event can also be generated from the SMH (System Management Homepage). Click the 'Settings' tab. Click the 'SNMP & Agent Configuration' link. Click the 'Send Test Trap' button.
