Windows 2000 and SP4
Hello there,
Hp advices to upgrade the HP software, drivers and agents that are part of the Proliant Essentials Foundation Pack 6.30 or higher.
After doing this I noticed that the compaq power management service, used for monitoring your UPS, is not updated. I found out that a new version exist seperate from the Pack mentioned above?? So my question is do a need to upgrade the compaq power management to a newer version before I upgrade to w2k SP4. I couldn't find any advisory mentioned about the required software level. Can anybody clearify this for me?

Re: Windows 2000 and SP4
That is all you will need to update; and not eveything will be updated; only the things you need form the support paq (PSP) proliant support paq.
Usually I upgrade to SP4; then I apply the service paq from compaq. not the other way around. Unless you are way behind on your compaq stuff; in that case you can do it before and after.
the reason MS and Compaq recommends this is because some times the SP4 will overwrite the controller driver and resulting in 0x0000007b error; with Q122926. ; that is if you select to over write that file; but it was only requred for NT4 ; not 2k.
I hope this helps.

T
