Windows is missing 2GB of RAM
We have two HP DL360 G3 Proliant servers and both of them have the same problem. Each server has 4x1GB RAM installed.
In BIOS I can see 4GB of RAM. BIOS RAM test is showing - OK. When Windows 2003 is booting up, in task manager I can see only 2GB of RAM. Where are other two?
HP Diagnostic for Windows Tool is showing me the following:
System Board
DIMM Slot 1 (DDR) . . . . . . . 1024 Megabytes
DIMM Slot 2 (DDR) . . . . . . . 1024 Megabytes
DIMM Slot 3 (DDR) . . . . . . . 1024 Megabytes
DIMM Slot 4 (DDR) . . . . . . . 1024 Megabytes
Does the system have ECC memory . Yes
Total Memory . . . . . . . . . . . 4096 Megabytes
Windows Memory Information (MEMSTATS.DLL was located)
Total Physical Memory . . . . . 2097048 Kbytes
Free Physical Memory . . . . . . 1791036 Kbytes
Total Virtual Memory . . . . . . 2097024 Kbytes
Free Virtual Memory . . . . . . 1953440 Kbytes
Content of MEMSTATS.DLL file doesn't make a sence. What I can see is heaps of symbols and only this:
(8PX 700WP `h```` ppxxxx ( n u l l ) (null) runtime error
TLOSS error
SING error
DOMAIN error

Re: Windows is missing 2GB of RAM
Thank you for reply.
I red lots of information regarding this. I tried to play with /PAE and /noexecute switches in the boot.ini file. No result. Windows is still showing 2GB of RAM.
If I am removing 2GB of ram from motherboard - BIOS showing 2GB and Windows showing 2GB as well.
I can├в t find anything in the manual for server.
I don't know what to do
Do you have any idea?
Thanks,
Roman
