Checking HTTP Server Status

After een clean installation of version 7.0 with no errors, we coul not start de the insight manager.
I get the message "Cheking HTTP Server Status" with a nice digital timer. And nothing happens.

The software is installed on a Windows XP with service pack 1, with MSDE engine.

We also tryed with a SQL Server database ( after going back to a backup ) but i get the same error.

What is happening with the HTTP Server status, or what service do i need to start ?

Thx for repley

Re: Checking HTTP Server Status

On our server this was due to there being a server address in the "proxy server" settings in Internet explorer, so either go into "internet options\connections\lan settings" and disable your proxy server, or tick the box that says "bypass for local addresses"

Re: Checking HTTP Server Status

We had a similar issue and the resolution was to set SNMP with the correct community name. check you SNMP settings.

Re: Checking HTTP Server Status

Someone mentioned making sure that I need to set the community string correctly. However, I do not see how I can set this without starting HP-SIM. Which puts me in a catch 22

Any help would be appreciated

Re: Checking HTTP Server Status

To set the SNMP community string in Windows, go to Start-Control panel-Administrative tools-Services. Double click SNMP service which brings up SNMP properties dialog box.
Click on Security Tab and then click Add button in the Accepted Community names and specify the community name.
For accept packets from these hosts make sure that you have localhost and 127.0.0.1 and the IP address of the SIM server.
You can set this without starting SIM service.

Good luck!
