CIM 5.5(Win32) email through Groupwise
Does anyone here know how to get Compaqs IM 5.5 (win32 version) to send email through groupwise, I get in the email option, Novell Default Settings, and it points to the gwmlt1.dll, but it gives me the error Required entry point no found.

Re: CIM 5.5(Win32) email through Groupwise
Hi Steve;
There appears to be an issue with the installation of the MAPI library that is created by the install of the local GroupWise client. This occurs when Windows Messaging has not been previously installed on the machine that contains the copy of CIM Console and the GroupWise client. (The Windows Messaging installation can be done manually or via and install of Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.)
Under the above circumstance, During the initial GroupWise client install, a message will appear indicating GroupWise did not detect the MAPI (Messaging) client and will prompt the user to allow GroupWise to install it now or not. Allowing GroupWise to install the MAPI itself will produce a workable installation of GroupWise, but Console forwarding will fail.
The error you're getting indicates this is the problem.
You can work-around it following these steps:
1) Uninstall CIM
2) Uninstall GroupWise client.
3) Remove the ???Novell Default Settings??? Profile in Control Panel, Mail.
4) In Add / Remove Programs, Windows NT, 95 or 98 Setup, de-select all installed components within Windows Messaging.
- Windows 95: In Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs / Windows Setup, remove Microsoft Fax and Windows Messaging or Exchange. (Q235713)
- Windows 98: In Install/Uninstall, remove Windows Messaging or Exchange and Microsoft Fax. (Q235713)
- Windows NT 4.0: Under Windows NT Setup, remove all Windows Messaging components.
- Windows 2000: Under Add/Remove programs / Change or Remove Programs, remove Windows NT Messaging.
5) Close and reboot.
6) Go back and re-add Windows Messaging.
- Windows 95: Add Microsoft Fax. Click OK to install Windows Messaging.
- Windows 98: On the OS CD, browse to the \Tools\OldWin95\Message\US and install WMS.EXE for Windows Messaging. Repeat and install AWFAX.EXE for Microsoft Fax if needed.
- Windows NT 4.0: Under Windows NT Setup / Windows Messaging, add the Windows Messaging component.
- Windows 2000: Refer to Microsoft Q254458 to obtain the Windows Messaging component. Install.
7) Install CIM.
8) Install GroupWise client.
90 Update OS with any applicable Service Packs.
10) Run CIM and configure email forwarding per the CIM Console Help files.
11) Test the install with the local test button and by using the initiate test trap features at the server.
In some cases, the registry key HKLM/Software/Clients/Mail/Outlook Express/DLLPath may need to be changed from the given value to the current location of MAPI32.DLL. In the case of Windows 2000, usually "%SystemRoot%\ystem32\mapi32.dll".
Sincerely,
Janine

Re: CIM 5.5(Win32) email through Groupwise
i`m using outlook express to send mail directly to the routing domain of the groupwise system. Because this is where groupwise is playing smtp server.
Where it is possible for me to drop the mail off. En send it to internal groupwise users. If i use smtp authentication in outlook express i can also mail outside the domain.

Just a suggestion, you may want to take a look at a little program call blat to send out emails. It allows you to use the command line instead of using outlook express.
