CIM7 service failure

my event log shows that the Insight manager application has stopped, and then the service is stopped....and I can't find much in the way of evidence as to why. Is there a way to turn on "logging" so I might get an indication of the error or problem?

Re: CIM7 service failure

What's the text of the events you are seeing in the event logs? Also, is anyone logging into, or out of, this machine? The CIM7 service WILL stop if it's set to interact w/ the desktop and someone logs out of the local system.

Re: CIM7 service failure

The service is not set to interact with the desktop. There will be two Application Event Log entries when the service goes away. The first will have the description "Compaq Insight Manager 7 Application Stopped."

The second event log entry will have the description "Compaq Insight Manager 7 Service Stopped. "

Any hope for a log-file anywhere with a more meaningful error message????

Re: CIM7 service failure

Sorry, I don't know of any other log file. Are you using an external SQL server? I know you can sometimes see that behaviour if the service isn't able to connect to the database. I would check the ODBC connections or verify the userid and password for the connection haven't changed.

Re: CIM7 service failure

The database is on the same machine. Looking at event logs, and sql logs, I cannot tell that anything happened to inhibit database access.

I don't have an answer, but if it's any comfort, we are seeing the exact same issue.

Not a single log incident to be found anywhere. Not very easy to troubleshoot ..
