CIM7 SP2 Invalide object 'sysdatabases'

I am attempting to upgrade from CIM 7 sp1.2 to CIM 7 SP2. In the setup, when it attempts to access the SQL2000 database, it returns a message "invalid object name 'sysdatabases' and will not allow me to continue.

The DBAs say that the user ID specified has full rights tot he database configuration. The event log references an error that "the data portion of event 19002 is invalid" or "the data portion of event 19004 is invalid".

Any suggestions on a next step?

I had the same problem Larry. I didn't find out why it happened, but I have a work around for you. If you change the authentication type to Windows authentication and use an account that has admin rights on the SQL server. This will finish the installation for you, but you will have to change your database setting back to SQL authentication after the install is completed. By the way, this requires editing some text files on the CIM server itself (click help, on the settings, database screen from within CIM for more info).

Thanks Jeff. That worked for me although it also had to be an admin on the CIM server for me to get it to work.

Also, as an FYI which is somewhat disturbing, the process generated a file called C:\CreateDNS.log which contains my password unencrypted in plain text!!! Yikes!

Thanks Jeff,

That resolved the issue and allowed me to continue with the install.

I have some other issues but will address them in a separate question.

Thanks for the note on the log file that was created! I had the same thing...only I used the domain admin account to do the install. Sure enough, the password was in the text file unencrypted!
