Could not resolve sss.compaq.com host

Hi HP,

Is sss.compaq.com host being taking offline? When I clicked on Update VCDB and received an error msg: "Could not resolve sss.compaq.com".

Please advise,

Appologies to Steve as this is not an answer, but if i may i have a very similar problem. But through a little investigation i can get passed this by Configuring a proxy address and port. However, when i do this instead of "Could not resolve sss.compaq.com". I get the following error. "An error occured updating VCDB incomplete HTTP responce". Furthermore i have tried updating the VCDB manually by downloading SP0965.exe and copying the extracted files to my VCDB directory. However, when ever i do this i get an error Unable to load VCDB when i wish to click on Legacy Version Control. Which leaves me floundering for a possible update to the VCDB.

I am running Insight Manager 7 patched to 1.2
on an NT4.0 workstation Sp6a IE 6.0.2800.1106 SP1 applied to IE6 128bit encryption. Our proxy server is Bordermanager 3.5.

Our hardaware Insight manager is installed on Deskpro EN Workstation all servers are on Proliant ML530. Novell based network

Not a problem.

I did download that file and extracted it. After I ran the install.bat file and clicked on the Update VCDB button. I received an error msg "can not recognized date". I am hoping HP will give us their answer soon.

I know this doesn't help much but this Version Control in CIM7 is called LEGACY i.e. old.
Why don't you setup a Version Control Repository Manager and together with the Version Control Agents you have a more powerfull piece of technology to check the software status of your servers.
B.t.w. the VCR is now FREE although it still says 'Promotional Version'.

I tried the old CIM32 VCDB update and it also doesn't work anymore via the SSS server.

If you are still stuck here's how to update the legacy VCDB:
1) download SP0965
2) stop the CIM7 service
3) copy the old CIM7 VCDB folder to another name
4) extract SP0965 and specify the CIM7 VCDB folder to extract to
5) Restart the CIM7 service

Hi all,

I work for Compaq/HP and tried to resolve sss.compaq.com internally. It is a canonical for vssspro.zcce.compaq.com, which has address 161.114.23.247. So I intered the hostname and the IP address into my localhost file (dirty, I know) and CIM was able to resolve the host. However, now I have a new problem. During update it stops with the message: 'An error occured updating VCDB. Paradox error applying VCDB delta'. Any ideas?

The server seems to work again, but have the same paradox error applying VCDB after a moment of receiving update.
