CPM causes hight CPU Utilization
I have had problems with a SQL server failing to respond in foreground for several months that required reboots. I finally caught it soon enough to find that CPM was using a steady 50% utilization, leaving less than enough for SQL to complete running tasks. I killed CPMSVC.EXE when near 100% and after several minutes, task cleared and CPU utilization was only 3%.
Is there a problem with V1.70? Do I need to remove, reboot, and re-install it? Is the 1.70A the same as 1.70?
Please let me know what I should do to resolve this agent problem.
Thank you,
Gordon Schillinger

Re: CPM causes hight CPU Utilization
Normally not an issue... Do you remember if SNMP was installed BEFORE SP5? Might just try reinstalling SP5 and then removing and reinstalling CPM (or try CPM 1.8).

Re: CPM causes hight CPU Utilization
There is a known problem with certain UPS series (f.i. the 3000XR). The high CPU utilisation is caused by an electrical load on the serial port of the server - which connects to the UPS. Call Compaq support for more info.
