Email Notification Troubleshooting
Hi
I can't get email notifications to send and have noticed that there is no longer a test button to trigger event notification as there was with Insight Manager (from which I have just upgraded).
I'm sure that the information is correct in the setup i.e our smtp server is our exchange server name and the account name to use has been entered in the format user@domainname rather than the Exchange Server display name format.
Is the only way to test notification sending in XE to actually create an trigger event?
Any general troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.
The server should actually be sending off to a Telecom airnote address which forwards to a pager.
TIA

Re: Email Notification Troubleshooting
You can initiate test traps from the monitored server by going into Control Panel->Insight Agents->SNMP Settings and click the Send Test Trap button(obviously this is for NT/2000). This only works if your XE server is in the list of SNMP trap destinations in the SNMP Service.

Re: Email Notification Troubleshooting
David, you're probably not going to be happy with Emails from CIM XE going to your pager. Some of them can be very long. Compaq Insight Manager 7 provides a way to specify that you are emailing a pager and restricts the messages to the shorter, pager-formatted ones. Compaq Insight Manager 7 isn't released yet, but will be soon (see www.compaq.com/manager for more information.)
