Error Logs

Can't clear out the critical errors on the remote servers. They are still being shown in CIM as degraded. Any suggestions on how to clear the logs?

I have the same problem and can find no answer at the Compaq web site.

Re: Error Logs

Do you mean you can NOT mark them as corrected, or you mak them as corrected and they still show as degraded?

If you are UNABLE to mark them I found this in the insight mangers help menu:

1. Highlight the log entry(s) from the Integrated Management Log.
2. Select the Mark Repaired button. This button is located at the top of the window.

IMPORTANT: Agents must have sets enabled and you must have the correct SNMP Community string to be able to mark entries as corrected.

I am having a problem where items in integrated log shows items marked as corrected, but it still shows up as having failed, although everything is checked and green....that's how I found this, hope it's helpful, check CIM help.

Re: Error Logs

Sometimes CIM fails to clear the logs...Check the SNMP settings, READ/CREATE or you can use the Integrated Log utility in control panel. Locally, or you can connect to the remote machine. You will need admin rights though.

Re: Error Logs

If you have older servers and you are unable to mark events as repaired you will need to actual clear nvram to get rid of these errors may happen on some of the following servers:
PL 1000
PL 2000
PL 4000
PL 4500
PL 5000
PL 800
PL 850R

Re: Error Logs

The SmartStart CD has an option for erasing the system configuration.

Re: Error Logs

Yes - this could be an issue with SNMP community string security settings (Read/Create or Read/Write, the later gives the best results). Could be the system itself (what model?).

Re: Error Logs

A year on and we have this problem PL 5000 Board Rev A ver 2, the entries in the critical errors under the server logs cannot be 'mark corrected' as the SNMP error about the community string is displayed. The Agents are all from 4.9 and you can successfully clear the power on msg events from server logs, as well as all others. Most annoying - resetting NVRAM seems a harsh action !

Re: Error Logs

Well after just posting that last entry I have resolved my issue, I have found that the Remote Insight Information agent wasn't active. Made that active through Insight Agent applet and - hey it now works. Simple things ...
