how to add snmp as management protocol to existing device
Hi,
we manage arround 250 servers in cim7sp2. problem being that more than 50% of those do only show http as management protocol. snmp is installed and configured on all servers and also snmp is selected as discovery protocol.
any help very much appreciated ...
Marc Kuerten

Re: how to add snmp as management protocol to existing device
Absense of SNMP means that during SNMP status polling IM7 server does not recieve any reply from the device. You could enable it back - go to Settings -> Manual Discovery -> Edit device. Enter device name (or IP address) and press "get device parameters", then you will see if SNMP is enabled. Enable SNMP and go to the device link. At least there will be SNMP explorer link, try to read device. But if IM7 could not communicate to the device over SNMP, then this link will disappear after next "SNMP status polling".
The problem could be SNMP settings on IM7 server side. You could set up a COntrol Task "Set Device Access Community strings" to make sure that strings and timeouts are correct for all devices.
