Re: Monitor Server Services

Assuming a Windows OS, go to the HP Management Agents control panel applet and go to the Services tab. You can select services to monitor and to alert on stop, start or both. There is no way to set this using the web UI. Other OS versions don't feature this.

Re: Monitor Server Services

My fault...the 'services' tab refers to the services of the agents...the 'process monitor' tab is what you are looking for...

Re: Monitor Server Services

Did you create a notification Automatic Event Handler (AEH)?

Name: Process Notifier <- or your choice
Event: Event Category
Proliant Application Events
Process Monitor Event Trap
System: System Name is <- or your choice
Action: Send Email to ...
Subject: <- your choice
Message Format Standard

Choose the Standard or HTML message format, and then the name of the process is reported in the body of the email like this:

Event Name: Process Monitor Event Trap
Event originator: DC4HPSIMTEST
Event Severity: Major
Event received: 24-Mar-2004, 11:46:31

Event description: A monitored process has either started or stopped running.

Error Message: Process spoolss has stopped.

Good Luck !!

Re: Monitor Server Services

Hi, I´m also trying to get a e-mail notification when a service stop. But I can´t folow your suggestions. Could you be a little more detailed?
Where can i find "Automatic Event Handler"?
I looked around in my IM7, but I cant find any "Proliant Application Event".

Re: Monitor Server Services

Reino:

Pat's reply was in the context of HP Systems Insight Manager. In Insight Manager 7 the equivalent functionality will be found under Devices --> Tasks --> Nortification Tasks --> Email

Re: Monitor Server Services

This doesn't work for me either... I set the netlogon service to "start&stop" in Management Agents - process monitor, and then stopped the service manually. It never generated an event to the trap destination (my CIM7 server). I need to begin monitoring services on this server; any ideas on what I might be missing here?
