Not able to Browse from remote location

I recently installed the Insight Manager 7 software. i can access the insight from the server it was installed on, but cannot access it from a remote PC using my browser (IE 6) when i entered (http:\\serverIPaddress). what can be the problem.

Where, exactly, is this remote PC? Is it in the same location as the CIM server, or is this a home PC, for example? If it's in the same location, is it on the same subnet? If not, is there anything set up on the hubs/switches which might prevent communication between the subnets? Are you able to reproduce this same problem on multiple PC's at the same location? If the machine is at an offsite location, is there a firewall in place which might prevent communications?

Also, in looking at your post, are you only pointing to the IP address, or are you pointing to the correct port as well? For the login, you should be pointing to port 50000.

thank you Brent, well the remote PC is directly located in the same subnet as the Server where the Insight is installed. Ii also have the remote pc located in the devices discovery on the server...

I'll just ask again, in case you missed it. Are you pointing to the correct port, as well, or just to the IP address of the machine?

Hi,

Make sure you are connecting to the correct port like the guy before me said.

http:\\server-or-IPAddress:280

Also make sure if you are using Proxy server, that the bypass the proxy server for local address is checked in your browser and the IP address for server that you have the CIM on is included in the list.
