Pager alerts to SMS (mobiles)
As the TAP or UCP protocol is only used from SMSC to the mobile device, there should be a possibility to make the necessary settings inside of CIM. How can I manage to create pager alerts without any additional gateway software, as they don't do anything at all but cost a lot of money. I don't want to use a MAPI client, as all MAPI services are matters that have to be surveyed bye CIM. When I use pager alert, CIM dials direct to the pager central and doesn't use any external service at all and doesn't corrump any security purpose. Please reply to mailto:bruno.urech@sisclear.com. Thank you.

Re: Pager alerts to SMS (mobiles)
Presumably, the pager central probably uses SMS for GSM mobile phones or an RF-based protocol for pagers. It appears to me that this is something unfortunately beyond the control of CIM. Perhaps you can call your your pager central to request TAP support, as the real problem really is there, not with CIM.

Re: Pager alerts to SMS (mobiles)
Note the mention of TAP and MAPI, and by golly, I suppose Compaq was telling the truth all along!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are a SMS subscriber, and your GSM service provider provides SMS support using TAP via PC/modem as an input method, you can use Pager Forwarding to deliver alarms to your GSM phone. Additionally, if your GSM service provider supports an e-mail input method, and you have a Simple MAPI compliant e-mail client, you can use E-mail Forwarding to send e-mail notifications to your GSM provider, who will then deliver it to your wireless phone.

Re: Pager alerts to SMS (mobiles)
Why is Compaq not including UCP? It seams to be a really easy thing for them. It would only be a form that has to be included. AFAIK it is not only the Swiss SMSCs who don't support TAP, it is also a problem in Sweden, Norway, Danemark, The Nederlands, and it is
also a problem with some German and also US GSM providers. If you need, I will send you the specifications of UCP. It was Compaq Switzerland who promised Pager Support to GSM, and in Switzerland it doesn't work at all, at the moment.
Thank you for any help
Yours
Bruno

Re: Pager alerts to SMS (mobiles)
Have you talked to the Compaq folks where you live? What were their comments on possibly extending the support, or are they even thinking of escalating the question? Just curious.
