Paging TAP Protocal fails

2 Questions:
1. Getting connection to pager service modem, according to paging status logs, then get 5 "sending to modem:" Lines in the log followed by "Error: timeout waiting for pager service to start TAP protocol. Pager service say's we aren't using 1.5 TAP compliant app. Any Ideas on how to get TAP alpha numeric messaging to work?
2. Know a quick way to clear out paging status html's or limit to certain number or number of day's to keep?

Maybe an answer to #1: I had the same problem when I was using a 3com Super Stack RAS 1500. When I switched to an external modem (URS sportster) it worked fine.
