Psaaword rollout for WEB Agent
I'd like to set procedure of changing Web agent password on all of Compaq servers on a regular basis. Anyone know if this could be automated through script, etc? Is there file copy or registry settings?
Thank You

Re: Psaaword rollout for WEB Agent
Greetings. We have done this ourselves and do change the password from time to time. NOTE: IF you are using Compaq Insight Manager 7 CIM7 w/SP1) and also Version Control Repository Manager (VCRM) changing the password on a routine basis is not a great thing to do as you may lose full functionality and reporting from the CIM7 console...
To Rollout the password changes it would be best to ensure that you are using 1 copy of the Compaq RDU (Compaq Support Paq) and Fully configure the Foundation Agents password, THEN deploy it to a target system, reboot the targeted system and ensure ALL passwords work.
NOTE: Compaq recommends when "rolling out" the password to delete the existing cpqhmmd.acl and then copy a new one in it;s place as sometime overwriting does not work 100 %.
1.) ON THE TARGETED SYSTEM locate the file CPQHMMD.ACL which is normally located in the C:\Compaq\wbem directory and copy this file to another directory of your choice.
2.) On the systems that will receive the new password changes and file, delete or rename the cpqhmmd.acl file.
3.) Using the source file cpqhmmd.acl that was copied in Step 1, copy this file to the system in step 2.
4.) Stop and restart the Compaq Web Agent Service. This will and should make the change 100 % effective.
5.) Test the new passwords.
