Requirements to move to SQL Server
Anyone know the "Recommended" use for like 70 servers? I've got the simple watered down version of Sql 7.0 running that comes with Insight Manager. Since Speed is not really needed. But what kind of needs will the database need for 80 boxes? Just asking...

Re: Requirements to move to SQL Server
The big differences between MSDE (runtime SQL 7.0 server) and the 'real' SQL 7.0, is that MSDE only supports a dB of 2GB, only 5 concurrent users and 'only' 2 CPU's.
I would think that for managing 80 servers this is sufficient, but make sure you have at least 256 MB of RAM installed.

A Proliant a day keeps the competition away!

Re: Requirements to move to SQL Server
Thanks.. it's 640mb and a print server. Should be good to go. Just a little slow. Might break it up between to sites and forward all to the 2nd site.
Thanks again...

Re: Requirements to move to SQL Server
Compaq suggests manging no more than 500 systems with MSDE, so 70 should be no problem at all.
