Signdisk.exe

I've been trying to use signdisk but to no avail. I've run the utility against my boot floppy but still get the F1/F10 prompt at boot. Any ideas?

Re: Signdisk.exe

Do you have a RIB Light's Out? Are you trying to use a Virtual floppy? Signdisk will not work that way...

Re: Signdisk.exe

The problem might be that signdisk utility was run under Win9X? Has to be NT/W2K

Re: Signdisk.exe

Are you saying that signdisk will not work if there is a a RIBLO installed?

Re: Signdisk.exe

I have run into an issue when using SignDisk.exe.

My process is this:
1: Run System Erase
2: Reboot -
3: Boot to Floppy and CD, kick off cf.exe (Compaq Hardware Configuration), configure Hardware
4: Reboot -
5: Boot to Floppy and CD, kick off ACR.EXE - configure Arrays
6: Reboot -

I don't know what it is about this process that SIGNDISK.EXE doesn't like, but I do get the one F1 prompt.

Thanks,

Re: Signdisk.exe

SignDisk does not disable to F1 prompt in a partially configure system. To eliminate the F1 prompt using SignDisk you must configure the hardware (ConRep or CF_Rep based on hardware) and the Array controller (ACR) before you reboot the system. The Compaq ROM is designed to stop at the F1 prompt if the server is configured, but the array is not. Also, there is a ROM issue on some ML330 and ML350 servers which causes them to not honor the Signature on the disk and to always boot to the floppy if a signed one is present.
