smartstart 5.5 and win 2k3

I have a ml 530 that I need to install win2k3 on. There appears to be no install option under 5.x. Any ideas how to get 2k3 on a 1st gen (8oo mhz) ML 530 ??

You have 2 options:
1) do a manual installation with Smartstart 5.50 so you can configure the RAID set and the System Configuration partition. After installing W2K3 manually, install the latest PSP 6.40 (download from the Compaq Support website)
2) do a Smartstart 5.50 Assisted installation and select .NET (beta). Make sure to upgrade to PSP 6.40

The suggestion that you can use SmartStart 5.5 Assisted Install option .Net (Beta) is not available on the 5.5 CDs.

Did you try installing as a Windows 2000 server using Smart Start?

Do you mean just select W2000 and then pop in a W2003 CD? If so it doesn't work, tried it just to see if I could get away with it.

The first option described above will work, go as far as configuring the Raid Array and after the Array is configured reboot and replace the SmartStart CD with the W2003 CD and do a manual Windows install.

On our DL6400 it installed enough drivers to get the Network going and from there was a simple process to install PSP 7.00A.
