Re: Status Unknown, Servers listing under Other
Won't a re-install of the Agents on said boxes fix this problem? I've the same thing on like 30% of my servers I've added manually. I've tried to get them up to speed and nothing works. Even the Type of system doesn't show up (DL580 in the query of ALL SERVERS).

Re: Status Unknown, Servers listing under Other
He agraves...I had the exact same problem. Through reading the posts here, this is what I figured out:
1) Make sure that the latest version of the agents are installed
2) Make sure that the community string on the server is correct
3) Make sure that the SNAP check box is checked in the Edit Devices section of EX and click on Apply.
4) Make a change in the Compaq Management Agents apple in Control panel on the server... this will force the services to stop & re-start.
5) Click on the Add Devices link in EX and then go back to the Edit Devices link. Put in the PI address of the server in question. The SNAP box should still be checked.
6) If the SNMP box is blank again, re-check it and click apply. Then go to the Tasks section of XE and run the SNMP Polling task. Then refer back to number 4 above to check the status.
Scott S is right on about the SNMP polling service. You have to set everything up so that is happens in a specific order otherwise XE will ignore SNMP. This is critical to getting what you need out of XE.
Good Luck,
Al

Re: Status Unknown, Servers listing under Other
If your clients are behind a firewall its also very important that you verify that port 280 is open. If you plan on using the web enabled agents make sure port 2301 id also open.
