Unable to add devices to CIM7

I've about 260 devices already added up to my CIM7 server but when I try to add another 1 up it I get no error message and no device on my list. It seems to take my information and then just ignore it. Is there anyway I can fnd out what is going on in the background to see why it will not add my device?

We have the same problem. CIM7 just ignores my input. Any solution ?

Hi i recently saw a problem related to this, basically we installed another piece of server reporting software on the same server as sim for some extra basic functionaility, it end results were that several sim functions stopped.

So - check the server its running on and review if any new software had been installed.

I don't believe its "other" software that has been installed.

I'd like to know what goes on in the background also as when I add new systems it takes days before it actually shows up in the console. Had the problem in CIM 7 and the problem still exists in HP SIM 4.1

It would be interesting to finally figure out where the problem is?

As I know it looks like that. You first add device, then "Initial polling" takes place , by default once a day, then "Daily polling". If the tasks are configured to run rare, then you will see the new server not earlier than the task is completed.
About "no show" - is the server completely missing from the list "all devices" or it is not in "server" list?
A good try is to send a test trap from a new server, while "Trap Autodiscovery" is enabled on IM server. Then at least there will be an event associated with the new device.

We used to have the same issue and stopping antivirus SW fixed it BUT just temporarily. Then it started again... Then we migrated to SIM 4.1 and with even more amount of servers it is still working fine.
