VCRM without direct internet connection

Hi All,

Our LAN is not connected directly to the internet (no proxy either). We can use a sort of a queue server. How do i set this up with VCRM? It's kind of Microsoft SUS minded. You download the updates (with VCRM) to the queue server and an other pc on our LAN has to pick them up. Is this possible at all or do i have to continue manually as i do now??? So on our LAN we have several Proliant DL380 servers. I want to update them automatically.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Insight Manager 7 sp2.3

Regards,
Arjan.

Re: VCRM without direct internet connection

Hi Arjan,

it is possible to upload SSPs manual to the VCRM. Others like firmware you have to copy to the repository directory. After a rescan you can deploy it.

Re: VCRM without direct internet connection

Thanks Martin,

Your saying, that if i copy the entire contents of the repository directory from my internet pc to my lan repository directory, after a rescan it should work? I will give that a go. I'll get back on this! Thanks again.

Re: VCRM without direct internet connection

Martin,

I've tried installing the version control manager on a internet pc. This works, but the message came, that first the agents had to be connected, before any download can be done. This is reasonable, beacuse otherwise it wouldn't which packages to download. But this is not an option for me. I think manual is the best option for now. I can't find anything on the HP site and Docs about this.
I'll make a support call about this. Maybe they have an alternative solution. If so, i'll post it here.

Regards,
Arjan.

Re: VCRM without direct internet connection

Ok, i've spoken to a HP person, and it is not possible if you don't have a direct internet connection. He said maybe in future versions. The only thing to do is to manual fill the repository from a smartstart CD or download a servicepack from the website (7.10 is now current) and put that in. Now we all learned from it :-)
