Waiting for HTTP Service to initialize...

From clean, I installed CIM7 SP1 (using the provided MSDE) from SP19787and then applied SP19754 on top.

Before my first reboot, everything was running fine. Now, when I try to start CIM7 locally via the Start menu, I see the error message "Waiting for HTTP Service to initialize..." repeated over and over.

The CIM7 service itself is running but I cannot stop the service manually (error 1053). Other services like "MSSQLServer" and all the Compaq ones start no problem.

Any ideas on where I'm going wrong? I'm installing on W2K professional on a Compaq AP550 professional workstation.

Re: Waiting for HTTP Service to initialize...

This is due to your exceptions. Try this:
Right click internet explorer, go to properties, go to the connections tab, from there go to lan settings, and check the box marked bypass proxy server for local addresses.
We are here for a good time, not a long time!

Re: Waiting for HTTP Service to initialize...

This didn't work. We don't have a proxy server here but I tried the suggestion anyway with no luck.

What could I check to see how/why the HTTP service is failing to start?

Re: Waiting for HTTP Service to initialize...

I am having the same issue with after updating MSDE with SQL. APP Log states that CIM7SP1 cannnot establish initial connections to database. System DSN works fine to the database (on separate server).
I have tried everything including Uninstalling CIM7 and starting over with new software adn database. I need some help PRONTO!

Re: Waiting for HTTP Service to initialize...

I have found my earlier posted problem with this was due to a bad database connection. Either it was an sa password mismatch btwn CIM7 and SQL, Bad System DSN in ODBC Connectio, Mixed mode on the SQL not set, or more often than not the MSDE, SQL 7.0, of SQL 2000 was not up to the correct Service Pack. Refer to the prequisites in the CIM7UG.PDF file located on the 5.4 MGMT CD.
