Won't run

I have tried installing IM on Win2K, W95 and W98. The splash screen comes up, that's it. No Data, no network activity (although I can browse the network).

The splash screen stays active and has to be exited through the task manager.

I have tried several PCs, different versions.

Anybody have any hints? I would appreciate it.

I have the same problem on a Win95 box. I've tried version 4.8 and 4.9. I just get the splash screen and have to end task named "About Insight Manager". I did installit successfully on a Metaframe (NT 4.0) box though. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

I am having the exact same problem. There doesn't seem to be anybody who wants to deal with this problem, yet.

What specific types of systems (servers, desktops...)? What specific type (or part) of Insight Manager (we do not support server Insight Agents on desktops or portables - the console software should work on pretty much anything)?

I am trying to run just the console on a Compaq Armada 1540DM. We support NetWare and NT servers. The agents run fine. I can run the console on other PCs.

I am trying to run Insight Manager on a Dell Optiplex gx110 using Windows 98 as an operating system. We have various Prosigna and Proliant servers that have been running CIM for quite sime time. We do have 1 PC that is running the console piece(I think it is CIM 4.2). It did work on my Dell for about 2 days, and then just stopped(splash screen and that's it)

I've had the same problem on two different systems. The first was a Compaq Deskpro EN running Windows 2000 Pro; the second was a Prosignia running Windows 2000 server. The Deskpro could run CIM if booted to NT 4.0. Same version, same database and files as when booted from Windows 2000.

CIM runs fine for a while after being installed, allows me to add new servers, connect to them and populate the database, but after a reboot or two it no longer runs and has the same symptoms as above. I really need to get this working, any help would be appreciated.

I too am getting this exact same problem. I am trying to run Compaq Insight Manager v4.80 on a Compaq Armada E700 running Windows 2000 Professional.

Same problem here on a Compaq Deskpro EN running W2kPro. Runs fine after installation then hangs at launch after one reboot. If I reinstall CIM everything runs fine until next reboot.
This is getting really annoying, need a fix quickly.

Is anyone at Compaq listening to this thread? Ron G? Since you don't seem to provide any other support for Insight Manager than this forum, I would appreciate a reply.

Just curious. I've seen loading problems when I had Norton Antivirus running simultaneously, but they went away when I disabled NAV. A few miscellaneous other apps seemed to also have occasional trouble when this service was running - it does do a lot of on the fly file checking, so I simply assumed some timing issues...

Mind you, this is by no means a swipe at NAV, simply an observation. The situation might occur with any background app swallowing the CPU cycles. I just haven't gone out of my way to test it - you know, if it works...
