ILO management on the DMZ

Hi,
I look after a number of internet servers that are situated on a DMZ. My customer has been advised that it is a security risk to use the ILO interface to manage the server. I do not believe this to be true but I cannot find any supporting documentation. I would plan to use a network address that was on the internal WAN rather than on the firewall. Does anybody have any advice?
