Re: ILO2 Problem using Java Remote Console
Also, do you have a JVM installed:
Recommended Java(TM) Virtual Machines
Client Recommended JVM
Windows XP The default JVM installed with the OS
Windows Java(TM) Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.4.2
Linux Java(TM) Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.4.2
Finally, what iLO 2 firmware version and platform?

Re: ILO2 Problem using Java Remote Console
Used both Windows XP SP2 and Vista Business - same results.

Re: ILO2 Problem using Java Remote Console
sure that works. After installing
it, check in IE under Tools/Options/Advanced
to make sure it's being used.

Re: ILO2 Problem using Java Remote Console
Doesn't matter what OS on the server, Windows, Novell or none, we get the same thing: Blank window with a Red X in the upper left hand corner!
My coworker called into HP and didn't get any resolution.
We have tried using the short name, as well as the fully qualified name. By-passing the proxy server. Adding them as trusted sites. Changing the setting for accepting cookies to the leaset secure - nothing seems to work!

Re: ILO2 Problem using Java Remote Console
Tried your advice, still no joy with that. The java window seems to just hang. Also uninstalled all other Java items from the pc and only now have 1.4.2 installed but still have problems viewing the server. Only reason I'm trying the java option is because i'm having other problems with the remote console, getting the "Failed to connect to server. Check for available telnet connection." Have the latest firmware (1.26) which was supposed to correct this issue when using NAT and connecting to ILO2 remotely.
Thanks anyway, will keep on trying.

Re: ILO2 Problem using Java Remote Console
errors are showing up there. Maybe that
will help clear up if it's a java specific
issue or related to the general connectivity
issue

Re: ILO2 Problem using Java Remote Console
having exactly the same problem? Any ideas how to fix it?
The optional java-less console would work, but trial-period is expired and we're still waiting for the license.
Best regards,
matthias.

Re: ILO2 Problem using Java Remote Console
I updated iLo2 Firmware from 1.20 to 1.29 and now I can connect to the Java Remote Console with IE 6.0 and Java 1.5.x.
IE7 and JRE 1.6.x still does not work, same with Firefox 2.0.x.
Now I get the "missing advanced license pack" message. My thought was that Java Console was free - but seems like it's not... :-(
So is there any possibility to get a free console at all from HP?
Best regards,
Matthias Link.

Re: ILO2 Problem using Java Remote Console
Sun Java Runtime Environment v5.0 Update 6 (jre-1_5_0_06-windows-i586-p.exe) was still on my WS2k3 32-bit server, so I uninstalled Java 6 and now the iLo Virtual Devices operates properly.
HTH!
