ILO5 Firmware upgrade issue
Hello
One of our ILO5 Firmware version is 1.38 and I m unable to upgrade to 2.97 downloading firmware-ilo5-2.97-1.1.x86_64.rpm from HP site. Is there lower version of rpm I can use to upgrde 1.38 to 2.x level and then use 2.97 rpm to upgrade to 2.97 level ? Can you recommend us the appropriate firmware-ilo5-* .rpm to upgrade version 1.38 to 2.x level ? Thank you.

Re: ILO5 Firmware upgrade issue
Upgrading firmware can be a bit tricky, but I can certainly guide you through the process. When upgrading from an older version like 1.38, it’s important to follow the correct upgrade path to ensure compatibility and prevent any issues.
For your ILO5 firmware, it’s recommended to upgrade to an intermediate version before going to the latest one. Unfortunately, I don’t have the exact version numbers available, but typically, manufacturers provide a firmware upgrade path that outlines the recommended intermediate versions to use when upgrading from older firmware.
Visit the HPE Support Center and locate the firmware downloads for ILO5.
Look for the firmware upgrade path documentation or a version history that includes version 1.38.
Identify an intermediate version that is compatible with 1.38 and is also a stepping stone to 2.x versions.
Download the appropriate .rpm file for that intermediate version.
Perform the firmware upgrade to the intermediate version.
Once the upgrade is successful and stable, proceed to download and upgrade to firmware version 2.97.
It’s crucial to read through the release notes and upgrade instructions provided by HPE for each firmware version, as they may include specific steps or prerequisites for the upgrade process.
If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, HPE’s customer support can provide direct guidance for your specific server model and current firmware version.
Remember to back up your server settings before proceeding with the firmware upgrade and ensure that you have a recovery plan in case the upgrade does not go as expected.
I hope this helps you with the upgrade process!
