Re: Unable to boot SPP image file from iLO 5 Virtual Media

Hi,

Few things to check:
Check boot device order.
Make sure this is the only bootable device attached, remove any other USB storage media if attached.
If you have other servers, try this SPP media on those servers, check if it boots, make sure SPP is not corrupt.
Try with a different browser.
Update iLO Firmware if possible.

Thank You!

Re: Unable to boot SPP image file from iLO 5 Virtual Media

Dear Suman,

Thank you for your kind reply to my query here!

Here are my reply as below,

1. I confirmed that that is the only virtual media I attached to the server and , there is no other USB storage media attached.

2. I have  verified the MD5 checksum for the package that I download and its match to what have been provided by HPE download site.

3. I have been trying on Chrome and Microsoft Edge and both give me the same error.

Apart from the above issue, I am unable to download the SPP image file from HPE download site. Can anyone help on that? thanks!

Re: Unable to boot SPP image file from iLO 5 Virtual Media

Greetings!

-> What is the iLO firmware installed? Could you update iLO firmware to latest revision and then try mounting the SPP ISO from iLO to check for the issue?
-> If the issue persists, copy the ISO to an USB key using the HPE USB Key Utility for Windows and check if you are able to update SPP on the sevrer by connecting the physical USB key.

https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?language=en_US&softwareId=MTX_360731071b404454b454390208&tab=revisionHistory

-> To further narrow down iLO issue, you can connect your laptop peer-to-peer/directly to the iLO port on the server and test the SPP after mounting it from iLO.

Re: Unable to boot SPP image file from iLO 5 Virtual Media

Dear all,

Thank you for your reply to my query.

As we have version control on the usage of iLO firmware version, we are currently using iLO version 2.72. It is not possible to have physical USB insert to server as we have USB devices control which can be connected to server.

With the above reason, that is the reason why I seeking to have SPP to boot remotely from iLO remote console.

Re: Unable to boot SPP image file from iLO 5 Virtual Media

Greetings!

iLO is the management controller, so if possible please update to latest version of fw only for testing purpose and check for the issue. Later on the firmware can be downgraded if required.

Test/try booting a different version of SPP (N-1). No need to proceed with the flashing process, just check if that is able to boot.

If issue persists with different version of SPP also then try peer-to-peer as advised earlier.

If you need assistance over a remote session please log a support case.

Re: Unable to boot SPP image file from iLO 5 Virtual Media

Dear all,

Issue resolved when I re-download another copy of SPP. I guess the previous image that I download may get corrupted is some way.

Anyway, thank you all for your kind assistance on this!!!
