7.2 on FTP site...am I bad?
OK - I went to HP FTP site and saw that the 7.2 support pack is there already, even though it is not officially released on the web yet.
Is this the official version to use, or is it like a pre-release version that I should not be using?
The reason I am so anxious to try the new version is because of the slow logout problem associated with the 2.0 version of the web interface (which uses the domain authentication). It takes FOREVER to logout of a windows server that has the 7.1 support pack and the 2.0 agent released with SIM 4.2. Support pack 7.0 does not have this problem. It is really starting to annoy me.
Anyway - is the FTP site fair game. Am I a bad person for not waiting?

Re: 7.2 on FTP site...am I bad?
Hmm, not directly related to your question, but since we are in the process of a near future upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2 I'm interested in any issues around that, so exactly when is the logout slow and why logout ?

Re: 7.2 on FTP site...am I bad?
Hi Mikael,
With SIM version 4.2, they include a new System Management web page agent (2.0). If you recall with the old version, there was a local user account (I think 3 total) that allowed you to login to the web interface. Anytime this password needed to be changed, you had to do it manually on each server.
With version 2.0, it now integrates with Windows user accounts. So, for example, you can login with the Domain Administrator account and when the password for that account changes, you dont need to update it on each server (since it integrates with the domain or local Windows SAM if you dont use Windows domains (Active Directory)).
However, if you install the web agent 2.0 on a server that has the 7.1 support pack, the server from that point on takes a long time to logout. If you stop the Web Management service, the logout speeds up and is back to normal. So, in my opinion, the slow logout problem is definitely related to the new Web agent.
FYI - I tried the new support pack 7.2 and the problem is still there. It takes about 30 to 45 seconds to logout of a server whereas normally it takes only 10 seconds.
Now there may still be some other 3rd party interaction that is the cause of the problem. For example, is it our Antivirus software, in combination with SP 7.2 that is causeing the problem? Dont know...still trying to figure it out.

Re: 7.2 on FTP site...am I bad?
The FTP version appears to be the production version that was released on the web several days later.
