Alerts from failed Windows Events

Is there a way to have IM generate alerts when a Windows service fails or stops eg, MS SQL Server service.

We have installed HPSIM v5.00.

Im interested in this too.. I would like to monitor SQL, IIS, sharepoint etc. The only method I can see is the process monitor which you have to setup individually on all the machines you wish to monitor.
Iam also not sure how I can monitor IIS when it is fired off from the SVCHOST service. I could monitor that service but that wont tell me if the IIS website is down or up.
