Backup up a copy of HPSIM 4.x

I would like to know if I can stop the HPSIM service, and copy the HP folder to another drive and use that as a backup if I wanted to go back to this current state after I'm done testing HPSIM on this server.

This version doesn't use MS SQL 2000

But it does use a SQL Database of some sort, and that's where a number of the settings are maintained.
If you don't have MS SQLServer, then the HPSIM install installs MSDE 2000 and uses that.

To completely backup GP SIM you would need a copy of all the files in <%installdir%>\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\config directories and a copy of the SIM and PMP databases.

Where are the SIM and PMP databases stored?

Re: Backup up a copy of HPSIM 4.x

They are stored in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data directory. You should normally do a database backup to archive the databases.
This is described in the SIM help files. Just do a search in help for Database backup.

Thanks for the help. I've backed it up and I'm now ready to test. :)
