Blue Screen Trap email notifications in HPSIM

Is there a way to get an alert in HPSIM if a server "blue screens"? I see the event in the Integrated Management Logs but nothing in HPSIM.

Any ideas?

I think so in HP SIM>OPTION>EVENTS>AUTOMATIC EVENT HANDLING>NEW TASK

Make sure you select the event you want ,and i think in status event you could select harware reset, usally when a bleue screen it, the system will reset...this should be good.

Not too sure, if the Server BSOD's it effectively crashes so you should be able to pick that up.

The other item you could check would be in the HP Management Agent GUI, under SNMP Settings and possibly check the Enable Application Exception Trap.
But, if the BSOD has effectively disabled the server, you won't have an SNMP process to send the trap, so it's back to looking for the server outage event.

Can the ilo board pick this up?

Re: Blue Screen Trap email notifications in HPSIM

The ILO should pick up the fact the server has died, but probably will not know why.
I'm not sure that you'll get an e-mail saying it's blue-screened, rather you'll get an e-mail saying it's crashed and then you'll see via the orange link there's an issue and from there a view of the IML will show the BSOD.

It's a similar issue with ASR's where the server reboots and you have to go back through things to find out why.

We are having similar issue. The problem is that the local system's IML logs the event but it is never sent to SIM. All SIM reports is a server Cold Start. I don't necessarily want to be notified every time a server starts. Health Status is also staying 'Green' even though SMH has 'Orange' IML event when logging into it.
