Can't login using old SIM 5.0 DB after SIM 5.1 upgrade

We were using SIM5.0 SP5. SIM5.1 upgrade created a new DB. Reading through the forums, we found that you can use the old DB by modifying database.props hp.Database.databaseName property.

However, after we did that, and restarting the services (even rebooted the server), we can't login to SIM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
