Can't see login box on system management

Hello everyone

I've got a small problem with the system management page on my Insight server. When I try to log, the login box (grey) is replace with a white square and a 'x' (see attachment)
However, from my workstation, everythings is fine. Do anyone have an idea?

My guess is that it's a browser setting of some kind on the Server. You might want to check settings, versions of JRE's, version of browser and any patches missing etc.

I've already unistall JRE and reinstall it with no effect. Also, I use IE 6 fully patch on Win2k3

Re: Can't see login box on system management

Okay, the actual item in question is not coming from the Insight Manager 7 application, but from the individual agent on the server that is being browsed to.

What version of agents are operating on that particular server? A long, long, time ago the login/password for the agents was ditched in favor of a script.

Unfortunately, this looks like it might be a JRE problem, and my guess is that the system that isn't working only has the 1.3.1_02 version that IM7SP2 enforces, OR, if more than 1 JRE is present (even assuming that they are configured correctly to load the right one to support the applet) since this is happening within one instance of the browser, multiple JREs can't co-exist.

You really should update the agents (through installing the entire ProLiant Support Pack) to version 7.0. Not only will it eliminate the problem here, it also will allow you to have the agent trust IM7 so you won't have to log in at all!

Actually, this server use version 7.0 of the agent. Its on Netware 5.1, so I guess I cant use trust by certificate.

Okay, what happens if you use the browser on the Insight server--don't get into Insight Manager 7--but just browse to the agent in question directly?

Also, I've notice that if I browse to a system on Windows, I see the login box.

Re: Can't see login box on system management

Ok I've correct the problem by configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer to use JRE 1.3.1_09 by default (something we should not do, according to hp)

Re: Can't see login box on system management

Oliver,

The problems you get by ticking the Use Java box in IE is if another application, accessed by IE needs another version of the JRE it wont get it because the Browser will try and use the one checked.

Leaving them all unchecked should allow the Application to use the JRE it needs.

This is essential if you're trying to run HPSIM and CIM 7 for instance.

Re: Can't see login box on system management

I know, but I don't intend to run other tools that would need JRE.

Thanks anyway
